Aloha Lions Ohana,
I hope this message meets you well. We are getting going into our 4th quarter and now we can begin to get ready for some of the bigger events for this year. I have a number of announcements and reminders today for you all.
- Today report cards were sent home. Please ask your children for them, sign the envelope, and return it to the teacher.
- This Saturday we will be having our Aina Aloha recycling drive from 9-11 am in our cafeteria parking lot. Bring in your HI-5 recycling, electronics, scrap metal, paper for shredding, or used oil and grease for recycling. All proceeds go to Kalihi Waena for student activities.
- We are having weekly COVID testing on Mondays at our school for free. This rapid test gets results in 15 minutes. All students who filled out the form go weekly, parents and staff are also welcome. Please turn in forms ASAP if you want your child to participate, or if you wish to participate please come to the office Monday morning at 7:55 to check-in.
- Our 3rd quarter assembly is next Wednesday 4/13/22. The kinder-2nd grade will be a live broadcast from 8:15-9:00, and 3rd-5th grade will be from 9:00-9:45. You can watch at meet.google.com/qvf-gktn-uyv
- Our next Principals Coffee hour is Monday at 8:00 in the cafeteria. Please come for a free doughnut and to talk with me, the new school health nurse, about how to help your child for the upcoming tests, and more. Join us in person or at meet.google.com/fjv-sitk-xrw
- Drop-Off's in the morning continue to be a problem. Please remember, from 6:30 am- 8:30 am Gulick Avenue is a no parking zone. Some parents who have been parking there to walk in their kids have been ticketed lately. The official drop-off area is in the cafeteria parking lot.
- Testing for grades 3-5 begins on April 18th. Please make sure your students have a good night's rest and get plenty to eat for breakfast! It will help a LOT!
- Lastly, we have seen an uptick in students who are having emotional and mental health challenges. Please keep an eye on your children for changes in behavior. The stresses of COVID, combined with the challenges of coming back to school and testing have been difficult for some students. We want to make sure we support them all through these challenging times. Please contact the office if you have any concerns.
Mahalo so very much for all of your support. As we close out this year we want everyone to know how thankful we are for all of you. If anyone needs any help all you need to do is ask. We do this as an ohana because, We are the Lions. We are the Future!
Aloha,
Mr. Larkin
