Principals Message to Parents (SY 21-22, Q1 Update #6)

Aloha Lions Ohana,

We are happy to start this week with so many learners here on campus! I know it is a scary time and we appreciate your continued support of our students and school. Just a few things today for everyone.

This Friday from 8:00-8:30 (or until questions and discussion is finished), I will be hosting a Principal's Coffee Hour with the families who would like to talk with me. It will be conducted online at meet.google.com/nen-qsjw-yah. Unfortunately, I cannot send coffee through the computer, but if you come to school to drop off your Keiki from 7:15-7:50 I will be handing out doughnuts to the parents (not the students) at the drive-up drop off area by the cafeteria.

We are looking for help. Currently, we need cafeteria supervisors, a morning supervisor, and an afternoon supervisor as well as after-school care helpers (aka A+). We encourage anyone above age 18 to apply, especially for the cafeteria supervisor job. All jobs entail direct supervision of students to ensure safety and adequate care for our Keiki throughout the day.

The book fair starts this Thursday. On your student's IRA day, please send them with money to purchase books from the fair. Not only do the books they purchase help them learn to read better, but the proceeds are used to buy more books for our library.

Our Regal Bakery fundraiser is ongoing right now, all ticket sales must be complete and the remaining tickets/money needs to be turned in by September 3rd. Our PTA really needs your support so they can continue to support our keiki. Please help however you can.
One note about illnesses. We are starting to see the influenza virus again at school. Many symptoms are similar to that what is listed as COVID symptoms. As such the rules are still the same for the flu as COVID. If a student is sent home ill, they have to either stay home for 10 days, get a doctor's note, or a negative COVID test to come back to school. We have to be very cautious with any illness this year, so please be vigilant and screen your children at home before they come to school. I hope everyone remains safe and secure throughout this turbulent time. If you need any supports, please feel free to ask. Remember, We are the Lions. We are the Future.

Aloha,
Mr. Larkin
