Kalihi Waena SY 2020 Q4 Update #1

Aloha Lions Ohana,

We were so happy to see so many smiling faces here on campus for our first day of the fourth quarter!  Wow, can you believe that we have had one full year of school so greatly impacted by COVID?!  I have to tell you, we are extremely proud of how resilient and positive our entire school, from parents and students to staff and community supporters have been.  We are starting to see the end of the restrictions and hope to return to full in-person learning as soon as we can.   I have just a few announcements today.

  • Traffic: Please remember that in the mornings and afternoons the traffic around the school can be challenging.  Be careful when pulling into the parking lot by the cafeteria (do not use the office parking lot for dropping off/picking up) and please pull as far forward as you can to let others in behind you.  Do NOT drop off directly into the grassy area just inside the gate.
  • Fundraising: Thank you to everyone who supported our school PTA with purchases from Regal Bakery.  Your support will help fund many needed programs.
  • Surveys: We need parents to please take just a few minutes out of their day to take a four-question survey about our school.  We have made an English, Tagalog, and Chuukese version for your convenience.  Please go to:
  • Testing: Testing for grades 3-5 begins tomorrow for distance learners.  If your child is on distance learning you should have received a schedule from the school in the mail for your child's testing schedule.  Please bring your child in for testing at the cafeteria at your designated times. If you did not get the schedule, please call the office to get a copy.
  • March Challenge: The #ohanadancechallenge is due to Mrs. Leila Bajarin by Wednesday.  You can email her at [email protected]  Please go to bit.ly/KWEohanachallenge to see contest rules.
  • Q2 awards: We still have some awards certificates in the office.  Please come by to pick them up.

As we wrap up this year in this final quarter we ask that every student and family make sure to attend school every day, do their testing on the correct day and, most importantly, relax and have fun.  We are almost through this.  Keep strong Lions.  We are the Lions.  We are the Future!

Aloha,

Mr. Larkin
