Aloha Lions Ohana,
Today we have some major announcements that need your full attention. We will post them on the announcement page on our website kwes.org as well as in the message that follows.
- Quarter 4 students returning: Starting quarter 4 we will begin bringing greater numbers of students on for everyday learning based on academic need. Please read the letter at bit.ly/KWEQ4 for details. Teachers will also be contacting you either by phone, email, or written if your child’s schedule will be changing.
- Fundraiser pickup: This Wednesday from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM is our fundraiser pickup. We will have all families line up on the Mauka (school buildings) side of the cafeteria to enter and exit on the parking lot side. When in line please maintain social distancing and wear masks at all times.
- Makeup Pictures: This Thursday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM will be our makeup picture-taking day. If your child missed the main picture taking days, please have them come down for this makeup date.
- Hale Ku’ai Liona: We will be offering a make-up day for our Distance Learners to come to our school store, Hale Ku'ai Liona. The make-up day will be Thursday, March 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Our store is located in Room A-2. Students and parents may come directly to A-2. Everyone will need a temperature scan upon arrival. Parents will be able to wait outside while students are in the store. If you have any questions, please call the office at 832-3210.
- Spring Break: There is no school next week 3/15/21-3/19/21. Students will return to class on 3/22/21.
- Attendance: If your child is ill or injured and cannot come to campus on a regularly assigned day or if they cannot attend online and are signed up as distance learners, parents need to inform the office about the absence.
- Upcoming recycling drive: On March 27th, from 9 AM to 12 PM we will be hosting our annual recycling drive. Please bring in your HI 5 recycling, scrap metal, old electronics, and cooking oil to recycle. Please see our flyer at bit.ly/kwerecycle for details.
- KHC: Our Kids Heart Challenge is off to a great start! We are having a blast learning how to keep our hearts happy and healthy, just like Splatter Quack who reminds us to choose water over sugary beverages. Has your student taken their heart-healthy challenge yet? If not, don’t wait! It only takes 2 minutes to register your child online and they can earn a heart hero wristband! Just download the FREE Kids Heart Challenge App or go to HERE to register! And be sure to check out the KHC Mission Experience, where you’ll have 10 days of fun, heart-healthy activities, and challenges you can do as a family. Thank you for your support and for joining us in the mission to defeat heart disease. Our ending event is this Friday during school so sign up before then!
I know how difficult this year has been for everyone. We are getting closer to normal. With your help, we will succeed. Please feel free to contact us for any supports you may need. Remember; We are the Lons. We are the Future!
Aloha,
Mr. Larkin
