Kalihi Waena SY 2020 Q3 Update #8 (2/18/21)

Aloha Lions Ohana,

I have a number of announcements for you all today. Many of which are very important.  Please visit our website, kwes.org for this and many other announcements. Our first announcement is a celebration!

• Yellow Tree Road: Our Yellow Tree Road project is finally about to break ground!  We will be installing a sidewalk from the pedestrian bridge to B building, the Library, and D building along the fence.  On a section of the sidewalk, we will be building a pergola and be planting Lemon, Lime, and other citrus trees.  A HUGE mahalo to the Masons Union for donating the labor for the sidewalk, the Waikiki Elks club for purchasing the lumber, The Lemon Tree Project for the trees, and Ho'oulu Aina for support in the construction of the pergola!  Much love and energy have already gone into getting this project started and much more will be needed.  If you are interested in helping build the pergola or laying the sidewalk, or just helping in general please contact Mr. Larkin at the office.  Please remind your children to stay clear of any construction areas. 
• Cheer:  Our cheerleaders are back!  Today marked the first meeting/practice of this year!  Our cheerleaders will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30 pm.  Any 3rd - 5th graders are welcome to join. Please see coach Jerri this Tuesday for permission forms.  Any distance learners or students who were on at-home learning need to stop in the office before practice to be screened for health and safety.
• Coffee Hour: Next Tuesday at 8:00 am in the cafeteria and online I will be hosting a coffee hour. You may come in to get free coffee and/or a doughnut and talk story with me about things that are happening at our school.  You can join us virtually at meet.google.com/qck-efaw-zju
• No School:  Next Friday, 2/26/2021 there is no school.  Please plan accordingly. 
• Fundraiser: Our school fundraiser money and tickets are due tomorrow.  Please turn them into the office or to your classroom teacher. 
• #healthychallenge: Our healthy challenge winner has been announced!  Congratulations to our winner of the challenge, Aria.  You can see the announcement video at bit.ly/kwehealthywin
