Kalihi Waena SY 2020 Q3 Update #1

Aloha Lions Ohana,

Tomorrow marks the start of the 3rd quarter.  It seems like only a few weeks ago we were starting this wild and crazy school year! Wow does time fly.  To start this quarter I have a few announcements.

  1. First Day Q3: Tomorrow is a "B" day, which means only students on schedule B or our few every day kiddo's come to campus.  It also marks the first day for 1st graders on campus.  Please remember that all Keiki are to be dropped off at the cafeteria.  Only grades K and 1 are on campus at this time.  Grades 2-5 will begin at later dates according to the schedule sent out earlier.
  2. 1st Grade: 1st grade students will have half days on campus 8:00-11:00 until January 19th.  After that, they will be all day.
  3. Parent Meeting: This Wednesday from 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM we will be hosting a parent meeting focusing on supports for our Keiki who are working online.  Please join us at meet.google.com/jpc-gwnz-njn at 3:00 PM to learn more about what you can do to ensure your child has the best possible situation for learning while online.
  4. Construction: Today and tomorrow our basketball courts are being repaved.  Please stay away from that area and keep away from all construction equipment.
  5. School website: Our school website, kwes.org has our calendar with our a/b schedule, pleases note it has changed due to furloughs cancellation.  It also hosts our menus for breakfast and lunch.
  6. School Lunch: While we transition from fully online to our blended learning A/B schedule, lunch for students in school may be different from the "at home" schedule.  Please coordinate with your teacher for exact times as they are subject to change depending on the activities and status of those in person.

We want to thank you all for your continued support of your children and our school.  With vaccines being rolled out we can see that there is an end to this eventually and a return to school as it was will happen, we just don't know when yet.  We will keep you posted with any updates as they happen.  Mahalo nui for all your support.

Keep strong Lions.  Remember, We are the Lions.  We are the Future!

Aloha,

Mr. Larkin
